Statement issued by Imam Ali (a.s.) Foundation in London condemning the terrorist attacks in Brussels.

The Chairman of Imam Ali (a.s.) Foundation and representative of the leading Marja’iyah in Europe, H. E. Sayyid Murtadha Al-Kashmiri condemns the terrorist attack on the Belgian capital, Brussels, which killed and wounded scores of innocent people.

Such actions can never be associated with Islam. The religion of Islam is innocent of such actions because its approach in dealing with others is based on humaneness, compassion and love; as stated by Imam Ali (a.s.) “People are two types, either a brother in religion or your equal in creation” regardless of who they are and what faith they follow – away from intolerance, nationalism and sectarianism – because every human being has dignity and sanctity in the eyes of Islam. The acts perpetrated by the extremists and terrorists do not represent Islam and its reality. Islam is innocent of such heinous action. How many times and on various occasions has the leading Marja’iyah in Najaf warned of the dangers of the spread of terrorism that stems from intellectual and Takfiri terrorism and refusing to accept other people? Had there been firm laws in place, similar to those of anti-semitism, to deal with the sources of this terrorist and Takfiri ideology then the spread of this epidemic would have been stopped.

The world must realise that there is only one form of terrorism, no semi, moderate or extremist terrorism.

Islam has consistently fought terrorism, anytime and in any place and called for preaching wisdom and good advice. As in the following verses of the Holy Qur’an:

Invite (all) to the Way of thy Lord with wisdom and beautiful preaching; and argue with them in ways that are best and most gracious: for thy Lord knoweth best, who have strayed from His Path, and who receive guidance. (Holy Qur’an 16:125)

Nor can goodness and Evil be equal. Repel (Evil) with what is better: Then will he between whom and thee was hatred become as it were thy friend and intimate! (Holy Qur’an 41:34)
