English translation of the statement from the office of His Eminence Ayatullah Seestani (long may he live), concerning the events in Qatif.

In the Name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
( To Allah we belong and to Him we shall return) Holy Qur’an 2:156

To our beloved and honourable people of Qatif, may Allah Almighty protect them,
Assalamu alaikum warahmatullahi wabaraktoh

With great sorrow and regret we received the news of the martyrdom of a number of our Momineen brethren from the region, whose pure blood was shed in an unjust aggression. And among them was the scholar Shaykh Nimr al-Nimr may he rest in peace.
While we condemn and deplore this, we offer you our condolences and consolation, in particular to the bereaving families for the great loss of their sons. We ask Allah, the Almighty, the Exalted, to bestow His endless mercy upon the righteous martyrs and to join them with Muhammad and his immaculate household (a.s.) and grant their families patience and comfort. And there is no power or might save that of Allah, the Most High, the Greatest.
