Liaison office of Grand Ayatullah Sayyid Ali Al Sistani (L.M.H.L) in London, Europe, North and South America.
The prophet of Allah (s.a.w.w.) said:
He who looks after an orphan and takes care of his needs will be with me together in paradise like the index and middle finger.
He was speaking in a meeting with the Chairman of Al-Ayn Social Care Foundation, Allamah Shaykh Amjad Riyad and heads of Al-Ayn branches in Europe, Scandinavian countries and the US, with a view to hold a wider conference with the representatives of the said countries to discuss the Foundation’s work strategy abroad and means of developing it to benefit widows, orphans and displaced persons and others.
Noting that the Foundation was established in 2006 under the guidance of the leading religious Marja’iyah Al-Sayyid Al-Seestani (long may he live) – a clear indication of the latter’s interest in the affairs of this forgotten segment in society. This huge step was welcomed by the Iraqi people and those outside. It led some philanthropists to endow income generating properties in favour of the Foundation, because they saw its meticulous organisation, its accountants, legal status and supervision – blessed by the leading Marja’iyah – officially registered in Iraq with its own budget and accounts. The Foundation also presents its budget and activities’ report to the offices of the leading Marja’iyah in Najaf for their approval and comments. Today the Foundation supports nearly 50 thousand orphans, widows and displaced persons.
Sayyid Kashmiri also praised the Foundation’s staff and their tremendous efforts in helping the widows, orphans and displaced people. He said: “With your great work and time, we hope you can help alleviate the plight of your brothers in Iraq because these people have no one to care for them except you. Your work is witnessed and supported by Allah and shall be your asset in the next world; because it is one of the most important ongoing charitable acts (Sadaqa Jariyah) you can have; so on the Day of Judgment you may stand under the shadow of Allah, next to his messenger (s.a.w.w.) who says:
He who looks after an orphan and takes care of his needs will be with me together in paradise like these two (the index and middle finger).
During some of my visits to Najaf, I noticed His Eminence’s interest in the work of this Foundation because of the support it extends to orphans and the needy – in line with H. E’s great great .... Grandfather Amirul-Momineen (a.s.) who dissolved in mercy and kindness towards orphans” – emulating his (a.s.’s) saying:
ما إن تأوهت من شيء رزئت بـــه كــــما تأوهت للأيتـام فــي الــصغــــــــر
قد مات والدهم من كان يكفــلــــهم في النائبات وفي الأسفار والحضر
He concluded the meeting with prayers for the success of the Foundation and its staff, saying: “I always note the role of this Foundation in my speeches and gatherings and urge people to support it. I also ask my fellow speakers and scholars, during the Ashura season, to mention this Foundation and its projects that support orphans, widows, the needy and the displaced.”
At the end of the session, the Allamah and Mujahid Sayyid Munir Al-Khabaz talked about the importance of social work and its benefits that increases growth and development year after year, citing verses from the holy Qur’an and narrations from the prophet (s.a.w.w.) and his immaculate household (a.s.) in support of such projects. He wished the Foundation and its staff success in their work.
And say Do then Allah will see your deed and the believers ... (Holy Qur’an, 9:105)
