Liaison office of Grand Ayatullah Sayyid Ali Al Sistani (L.M.H.L) in London, Europe, North and South America.
During his tour of the Scandinavian countries, on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Imam Ali, Amirul-Momineen (a.s.), Allama Sayyid Kashmiri gave speeches at the Majlis al-Khadamah and the Imam Ali (a.s.) Mosque in Copenhagen as well as in the Imam Al-Muntadhar (a.j.) Center in Malmo-Sweden. This coincided with the fifth anniversary of the inauguration of the Imam Al-Muntadhar Cultural Center in Malmo. Many known scholars and members of various Muslim communities as well as heads of Islamic centers and organizations in Sweden and Denmark attended the celebrations. He said:
“Muslim and Christian writers and researchers have exhausted themselves in trying to depict the character of Imam Ali (a.s.) due to its greatness and depth. For example George Jordac the Christian writer who wrote ‘The Voice of Human Justice’ wrote five volumes on Imam Ali (a.s.). Also the book by Dr. Abdul Fattah Maqsood entitled ‘Imam Ali ibn abi Talib’, he wrote about the character of the Imam (a.s.) and what distinguished him from others by references from the holy Qur’an and the prophet (s.a.w.w.) as well as ten of other books by writers and researchers.
On such an occasion one can probably say this about the character of Imam Ali (a.s.) ‘Allah created it and the prophet (s.a.w.w.) moulded it. I do not intent to stray from the norms of such occasions for fear of being accused of exaggerating the matter. I shall just refer to the verses [regarding Imam Ali (a.s.) ] in the Qur’an such as the verse of Tatheer 33:33, Al Abrar 76:55, Al Mubahala 3:61, Al-Takhatum 5:55 and he is the aware one, the most pious among the believers; he possesses the knowledge of the book and precedes others [in performing righteous deeds]
And other verses that time doesn’t allow for right now. The prophet (s.aw.w.) also honourned him in countless declarations and Ahadith. We shall mention just a few:
When we refer to the Muslim Sihah books and references we find tens of Ahadith where the prophet (s.w.w.) honoured Ali (a.s.) throughout a period of thirteen years from the beginning of the Dawa until his death, i.e the prophet’s (s.a.w.w.) death. From this glimpse it is clear that Ali (a.s.) was the only one in the world of existence after the prophet (s.a.w.w) who enjoyed such virtues and such perfection.”
Whilst we commemorate this auspicious occasion we hope that some of Imam Ali’s (a.s.) blessings would come our way to restore our dignity and honour in an era where the forces of injustice, polytheism have converged upon us from everywhere. And this is what the prophet (s.a.w.w.) predicted, 14 centuries ago, would happen to Muslims when he said: “Imminently, nations will fall upon you like the hungry on a dish.” He (s.a.w.w.) was asked: “Would it be because of our few numbers?” He (s.a.w.w.) said: ”No you will be many then; but it is because of your love for this world and your hatred for the afterlife.”
Lastly, in Sweden, Allama Kashmiri stressed upon the officials in Iraq to follow the latest directive issued by the leading Marja’iyah regarding the partitioning of Iraq. He beseeched Allah Almighty wholeheartedly and by the status of Imam (a.s.) who did not for one second ascribe to Him (i.e. to Allah) any other god, and by the injustices he endured, to unify the word of those officials in Iraq and bring them together and that they must not be deluded by promises and hopes or threats and warnings because Allah Almighty is supporting and protecting them – if they support Iraq.
((O you who have believed, if you support Allah , He will support you and plant firmly your feet.)) Holy Qur’an 47:7
