Sayyid Al-Kashmiri says:
The Qur’an mentions four attributes for the prophet Mohammad (s.a.w.w) not mentioned for other prophets (a.s.).

His discourse was on the occasion of the martyrdom of the prophet (s.a.w.w) on the 28th day of Safar. Allama Al-Kashmiri said:

“From the day the prophet (s.a.w.w) opened his eyes to this world, writers, researchers, speakers have been writing, researching and speaking incessantly and they are continuously discovering more and more secrets on the greatness of this personality who is the motive for this existence (‘O’ Ahmad, if it were not for you I would have not created the universe and if it were not for Ali I would have not created you and if it were not for Fatima I would have not created you both – Hadith Qudssi). So what is the essence of the prophet (s.a.w.w) according to the logic of the Qur’an without going down the path of immoderation and exaggerating his character? Lest we do not exaggerate like the Jews and Christians did for the prophets Moses and Jesus (peace be upon them).

The Qur’an’s answer eliminates all suspicions and slander, raised by orientalists and others, against him (s.a.w.w) and shatters their hopes and the hopes of the Umayyads and those following their way in concocting stories to discredit this great personality.

1-The Qur’an describes him as a ‘man’ a ‘servant’ :
Exalted is He who took His Servant by night from al-Masjid al-Haram to al-Masjid al- Aqsa, whose surroundings We have blessed, to show him of Our signs. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Seeing. (Qur’an 17:1)
Blessed is He who sent down the Criterion upon His Servant that he may be to the worlds a warner – (Qur’an 25:1)
Say, "I am only a man like you, to whom has been revealed that your god is one God. So whoever would hope for the meeting with his Lord - let him do righteous work and not associate in the worship of his Lord anyone." (Qur’an 18:110)
From this we realize the Allah (s.w.t.) singled his prophet to be an absolute servant to His divine essence. Therefore: He revealed to His servant what He revealed (Qur’an 53:10) If he did not merit to be a worthy servant he would have not rose to the rank of the message [of Islam]. Thus we Muslims bear witness to his servitude and bear witness to his message and say: “.. I bear witness Muhammad is His servant and messenger..”

2 – Absolute knowledge: And Allah has revealed to you the Book and wisdom and has taught you that which you did not know. And ever has the favour of Allah upon you been great.(Qur’an 4:113) This knowledge, the depth and reality of which cannot be fathomed. The source of this knowledge is Allah the Exalted. Knowledge with no doubts, errors, omissions, forgetfulness and suspicion. Knowledge emanating from certitude and authority; unlike what some say that the prophet, based on his juristic deduction (ijtihad), used to send out scouts on missions and there’s no harm in whoever wants to disagree with him.

This knowledge in fact and essence was passed after him to Ali bin Abi Talib (a.s.), who said: “The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.w) taught me a thousand door that opens a thousand door”. Also his saying (a.s.): “Ask me before you lose me”. This knowledge was passed to his children (a.s) after him (we inherit the knowledge young from old).

3 – Purification from all forms of impurity [sin]: Allah intends only to remove from you the impurity [of sin], O people of the [Prophet's] household, and to purify you with [extensive] purification. (Qur’an 33:33). By purification here we mean the prophet and his household are free from all behavioural, moral and impurity of thought and polytheism; for they are infallible. Because polytheism never runs in the veins of prophets. The Qur’an bears witness to his innocence form all forms of betrayal, indecency and injustice and he was immune from responding to his desires and whims and his household (a.s.) were like him. What declaration could be more sublime than this? It is Allah’s declaration for him and his household to avert from them all forms of evil and impurity. Therefore we see the Qur’an did not stop at saying “purify you” but specified “extensive purification” to emphasis on the purity of the messenger of Allah and his household (a.s) and that they are purified in thought, behaviour and even intentions.
They do not think of any form of evil, sin and betrayal; because these impurities do not go near the arena of Muahmmad (s.a.w.w) and his household (a.s)

4 – Worship [piety] , Allah the Exalted says: Indeed, your Lord knows, [O Muhammad], that you stand [in prayer] almost two thirds of the night or half of it or a third of it,..(Qur’an 73:20)
The prophet (s.a.w.w) was the perfect character when it came to worshiping Allah. Some historians used to say: “He prayed until his feet became swollen.” He was asked: ‘O’ messenger of Allah you do this when Allah has ...forgive you what preceded of your sin and what will follow.. (Qur’an 48:2) He (s.a.w.w) said: “Should I not be a thankful servant.” And the Exalted’s words: Ta,ha. We have not sent down to you the Qur'an that you be distressed (Qur’an 20: 1&2)

The Ahlul-Bayt (a.s.) were the same in their worship. In the forefront was Imam Ali (a.s.), the great friend of the Mihrab and the blessed Duas like Dua Kumail, Dua Sabah and the Sahifa Al-Alawiya. Also what Imam Zainul- Abideen left in the form Duas in Al-Sahifa Al-Sajjadiyya.

5 – Morals, the Exalted has said: And indeed, you are of a great moral character. (Qur’an 68:4)
The most important factor in the success of the messenger of Allah (s.a.w.w) is morals (Akhlaq). Even though he held the ‘holy Qur’an the eternal miracle’ and he was ‘infallible’ and the ‘perfect character’, the most important factor for his (s.a.w.w’s) success in calling people to Islam (Da’wa) is morals. The Qur’an says: So by mercy from Allah , [O Muhammad], you were lenient with them. And if you had been rude [in speech] and harsh in heart, they would have disbanded from about you. (Qur’an 3:159) The harsh conditions of the desert necessitated the gentleness and leniency of the prophet (s.a.w.w). Therefore his morals were the miracle.

In addition to what we said, Allah the Exalted allocated His prophet (s.a.w.w) four attributes mentioned in the Qur’an:

1-He is the biggest interceder on judgment day: And your Lord is going to give you, and you will be satisfied.(Qur’an 93:5) The prophet (s.a.w.w) came to Fatima (a.s.), she was clothed by a cloth made from camelhair and was grinding with her bare hands and suckling her baby. When he saw her he said: ’O’ daughter hasten the bitterness of this world for the sweetness of the afterlife” (i.e. endure the problems of this world so that you will be rewarded in the next life). “Allah the Exalted has revealed upon me: And your Lord is going to give you, and you will be satisfied.(Qur’an 93:5). Imam al-Sadiq said: “My grandfather will not be satisfied if his followers would enter fire”. The prophet is the biggest interceder.

2 - Indeed, We have granted you, [O Muhammad], al-Kawthar. (Qur’an 108:1)
Allah the Exalted promised his prophet (s.a.w.w) a continuation of his material existence when He said Indeed, We have granted you, [O Muhammad], al-Kawthar. The prophet’s followers who number millions today are the best example of His words: Indeed, We have granted you, [O Muhammad], al-Kawthar.

3 – The prophet (s.a.w.w) is our channel to Allah: ..And if, when they wronged themselves, they had come to you, [O Muhammad], and asked forgiveness of Allah and the Messenger had asked forgiveness for them, they would have found Allah Accepting of repentance and Merciful. (Qur’an 4:64). From the beginning till now Muslims used to visit the grave of the prophet (s.a.w.w) and beseech Allah, by his grave, to fulfil their needs in this world and the next. We do not care about the views of those who contradict this.

4 – His reputation: And raised high for you your repute. (Qur’an 94:4)
In spite of the enemies’ conspiracies, the name of Muhammad remained and will remain glowing in the world. The Umayyads and their orientalist followers and apostates tried to abase the status of the prophet (s.a.w.w) and his character but Allah ‘refuses except to perfect his light’ and said: And raised high for you your repute. (Qur’an 94:4)

Peace and be upon you ‘O’ seal of the prophets and messengers, the day you were born, the day you departed to your Lord and the day you will be resurrected.
