The representative of the leading Marja’iyah in Europe, Sayyid Kashmiri, congratulates Christians all over the world on the new year and its festivities

In his good wishes message on the birth of the prophet of Allah, Jesus the son of Mary (peace and blessings be upon them both), he said:
“We congratulate Christians, from all denominations, on the auspicious occasion of the birth of Christ. We wish them and all mankind a new year full of love, friendship, peace and security; working together to create humane brotherly relationships between everyone and remove oppression, violence and corruption from this earth and establish justice - so that the compassion, which all prophets and their disciples called for, may prevail – as our Imams (peace and blessings be upon them) said: “People are orphans to us, may Allah’s compassion be bestowed upon those who are compassionate towards our orphans.”

Sayyid Kashmiri believes that celebrating the birth of Christ, and all prophets (peace be upon them), is a great opportunity to consolidate respect and inter-faith dialogue and reinforce divine and humane values and reconciliation between religions. Because all the prophets, beginning with prophet Adam (peace be upon him) and ending with the seal of prophets; were all sent for the happiness of mankind and to lead people from darkness to light and perfect their comportment towards each other.

Jesus the son of Mary (peace be upon them) promised Allah’s compassion, blessings and enlightenment to the world. Everyone should therefore strive to spread love and resolve differences amiably and peacefully; because it is the best way forward. Also to try and contain poverty and deprivation and the materialistic concerns of today’s world. This will bring hope when addressing further problems within the framework of religion.

Peace be upon Jesus on the day he was born, on the day he rose, on the day he will descend and on the day he will be resurrected.
