Liaison office of Grand Ayatullah Sayyid Ali Al Sistani (L.M.H.L) in London, Europe, North and South America.

The European representative of the leading Marja’iyah: Explains the weakness of Muslims today and their enemies’ prevalence is due to being distant from and Qur’an and the progeny.

((Ramadan is the month in which was sent down the Qur'an, as a guide to mankind and clear signs for guidance and judgment [between right and wrong] ))
(The Cow:185)

Two great occasions in the month of fasting: The sending down of the silent Qur’an and the assassination of the talking Qur’an.

As for the descent of Qur’an, Muslims unanimously concur it came down on the night of Qadr [the night of power] ((We indeed revealed this [message] in the Night of Power)). However, narrations differ in specifying the exact night of power which is one of the following nights, 19th 21st 23rd 25th 27th 29th – when the one sentence of Qur’an was revealed unto the Messenger (s.a.w.w.), then other verses [Ayat] followed gradually according to events and facts, or its descent from the boards unto the keepers on the night of power plus other details available in Islamic reference books.

The important thing is that there is no addition or subtraction in this Qur’an which is in the hands of all Muslims, beginning with Suraht-ul Fatiha and ending with Surat-ul Nas. It is a book of guidance, refinement and purification - educating mankind and it shall remain so from its descent on the night of power till the hour of reckoning - a guide and mentor.

((Verily, this Qur'an guides to that which is most just and right and gives glad tidings to the believers (in the Oneness of Allah and His Messenger, Muhammad s.a.w.w.). who work deeds of righteousness, that they shall have a great reward [Paradise])). (The Night Journey: 9)

((Alif. Lam. Ra. A Book has been revealed to you, (Muhammad), so that, by the permission of their Lord, you would be able to lead people from darkness into light along the path of the Majestic, Praised One.)) (Ibrahim :1)

((This is a clear declaration for mankind, and a guidance and a warning for those who preserve themselves from evil.)) (Al-Imran: 138)

Referring to the holy Qur’an the Messenger (s.a.w.w.) said: It is that which has knowledge of what was before us and what will be after us.

If only the Ummah adheres to its boundaries and instructions, it will find enlightenment to the right path and the followers of the right path and will recognize the rights of the pure progeny whom the Prophet (s.a.w.w) linked to the book, for they are the next source for the Ummah [after the Qur’an]. If only the Ummah would learn from the light of the Qur’an it would be safe from a lasting chastisement and it will neither wander in the dark not will it fear any evil or take a wrong step from the right path. But the Ummah rejected and turned away in haste, following its whims and joining the banner of the unjust to such an extent that Muslims began blaspheming other Muslims and seeking nearness to Allah by killing and violating their sanctity and sanctioning their property. What more reason is there, to prove the Ummah’s neglect of the Qur’an, than this mighty disunion?

Therefore the Muslim Ummah cannot regains its dignity and status - as Allah has wanted for it - unless it adheres to the tenets of the Qur’an and the pure progeny. The Ummah today, in spite of its greatness in quantity and quality, estimated at over one billion Muslims, who control vital routes, sit on arsenals of weaponry and own black and white gold but still remain a spume, like the spume of a flood –as the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.w.) described them. Thus it was its bad luck to assassinate the talking Qur’an, Ali Ibn Abi-Talib (a.s.) in this holy month thereby losing its biggest scientific asset; for he was its guide and mentor after the prophet (s.a.w.w). Misfortune befell the Ummah. For this the Prophet (s.a.w.) cried on this tragedy in the month of Ramadhan. Imam Ali (a.s.) asked him the reason for his crying ? The prophet (s.a.w.w.) said: O Ali, I cry for what will be deemed lawful for you in this month, it’s as though I am one [soul] with you and you are praying to your Lord, and the most wretched of the wretched, the useless brother of Talmud’s camel, came and hit you on your head covering your beard [with blood]. It’s not surprising that the prophet’s (s.a.w.w’s.) crying and informing Ali (a.s.) of this incident is an indication of the extent of the tragedy and its effect on the Ummah, for it represents the turning point for the Ummah - from the path laid by the Messenger of Allah and his command to follow his successor. They could not wait to sideline him and then fight him, ending with blaspheming him. It is a strange irony that the gate of the prophet’s (s.a.w.w’s) knowledge should be blasphemed when he spent thirty years on the message and that his progeny was annihilated and his women taken captive fifty years later.

It is therefore not surprising that when we look at events these days we see the results of this disunity from the progeny, beginning with blaspheming fatwas that lead to Muslims’ bloodshed all over the world and create discord among them making them a scapegoat for their enemies’ aims and greedy objectives.

We hope that Momineen and Mominaat everywhere raise their hands to the Almighty during these great nights and pray for unity and consolidation of ranks and love between their hearts and to keep their enemies’ conspiracies away from them. Allah is All Hearing and [He] Answers prayers.
