Liaison office of Grand Ayatullah Sayyid Ali Al Sistani (L.M.H.L) in London, Europe, North and South America.
By invitation from the Khoja Shia Ithna Asheri Jamaat of Dar-es-Salaam in Tanzania on the occasion of the birthday of Abi Al-Fadhl Al-Abbas (a.s.), the scholar Sayyid Murtaza Al-Kashmiri and the delegation accompanying him visited the country from 15 – 19 August 2007.
During this period the opening ceremony of Mehfile Abi Al-Fadhl Al- Abbas (a.s.) took place. The construction of Mehfile Abbas (a.s) according to contemporary standards was achieved through a donation from a kind individual, totalling two million dollars ($2,000,000.00). There are many prominent features in Mehfile Abbas such as a replica of the holy shrines of Imam Hussain and his brother Al-Abbas (a.s.). Special attention was given to details of the real holy shrines so that Momineen may obtain Tabarrok by looking at them and remembering the sacrifices made by these two greats on the day of Ashura.
Sayyid Kashmiri also laid the cornerstone for the building of dwelling quarters for Momineen arriving from outside the Tanzanian capital. He also visited the newly constructed library which comprises of a media station disseminating programs in the Swahili local language. He provided the library with an immeasurable amount of historical references as well as ideological and sources of interpretation; so students and researchers in the region may benefit from this important facility.
Sayyid Kashmiri also gave a token gift on behalf of Imam Seestani (long may he live) totalling fourteen million Tanzanian shillings (TZS. 14,000,000.00 ) towards the construction of a learning centre named Al-Askaryiain Centre for memorising the holy Quran, which is currently being built by the Khoja Jamaat in Dar-es-Salaam.
The birthday of Imam Hussain (a.s.) was commemorated during this visit - in Arusha and Friday prayers were held and attended by a large number of Momineen and Mominaat.
